ABOUT US
The European Respiratory Care Association is a non-profit association regrouping health professionals with a common interest in Respiratory Care. The association was created in 2002 and registered as a non profit making organisation in Belgium in 2003. The head office is in Brussels.
The group is mainly composed of respiratory physiotherapists but also of other health professionals with an expertise in respiratory therapy.
The association has an Executive Committee and an International Committee.
Our Mission
- to provide a platform for the exchange of information on respiratory care among professionals from all over the world;
- to encourage and promote the harmonisation of respiratory education (both undergraduate and postgraduate) throughout Europe;
- to promote the recognition of respiratory physiotherapy (or respiratory therapy) as a specialisation in European countries;
- to encourage education and research in order to improve the knowledge and understanding of respiratory disease among professionals in the field;
- to promote best practice leading to a high quality of multidisciplinary respiratory care all over the world.
Projects
- to establish relationships with other associations and scientific institutions in the same field;
- to network with health professionals from all over the world;
- to organise and co-organise educational events: symposiums, practical workshops, conferences;
- to create and diffuse educational material on various available topics for colleagues;
- to promote the use of and, when possible, participate in the setting up of guidelines for clinical practice.
